Lakers Move On...And Other Junk

The Lakers defeated the Spurs Thursday night behind a steady performance from its bench players and help from a brilliant continuation of Manu Ginobili's Chokefest 2008. Once Ginobili's shot wasn't falling all he had left was his flopping and the league recently announced that next season players will be fined for flopping. Once the league starts calling travels more often then Ginobili will have nothing left.

Robin Williams is such an underrated actor. Every time I watch one of his movies I think to myself that he can't possible top his last performance but then the movie starts and I forget that I'm watching an actor. This reminds me, Robert Horry is the Robin Williams of basketball. The game starts and you know it is impossible for him to top his last performance but he consistently performs in the clutch, that is, except for this year.

All Greg Popovich had to do was not play Horry or Fabricio Oberto. They give you absolutely no advantages when they are on the court. By the way, as if you didn't already know, Tim Duncan is an absolutely brilliant player. In the conference finals Duncan averaged a mind boggling 22.4 points, 17.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. The guy is 32-years-old though and should be quickly declining very soon. Unless the Spurs make a major addition in the off season they are bound to be a one round and done team for as long as TIMMY! decides to stick around.

Did you know that Kobe Bryant is only shooting 29.5% of his threes in these playoffs? Ray Allen is supposedly shooting horribly these playoffs but he has made 33.7% of his. Kobe's overall FG% is 50.9% while Allen's is only 39.8%. You can attribute this to Kobe taking the ball to rack.

Allen and Paul Peirce's shooting as well as Kevin Garnett neutralizing Pau Gasol will win the Boston Celtics the series in five games. Of course when this happens all the analysts will say something to the effect of "Absolutely nobody could have imagined that the Lakers would be so thoroughly beaten." Wrong, I imagined it.
